Using Zoom

If you have not installed zoom, please scroll down to the Installation Instructions section further below.

Joining with a Computer (to see any presentation slides and webcam (for those that have them)

  1. If you've installed Zoom on your computer, run the app. When the app begins, click on the blue button "Join a Meeting" .

2. It will ask for your meeting ID and name.  Enter 842-258-5697 (do not type in the "-" symbols. It automatically does that as you type the numbers) for the ID and your name, then click  the "Join" button

3. It will then ask you to "Enter meeting password". Use Hopewell, then click the blue "Join Meeting" button.

4. You will now get a meeting window and a smaller window asking about how you want to connect.  Click the blue button "Join with Computer audio" if you have speakers or headphones. I highly recommend using headphones to greatly reduce feedback noise into your microphone.

5. If the host has not started sharing his screen, you will see a window that looks similar to this: just wait for host to start sharing.

6. Once the host starts, the window will change to show what he/she is presenting.  Typically your entire screen will show the entire screen being displayed by the presenter. There are options you can change. By moving your mouse you will see a green bar near the top middle of your screen and another black bar along the bottom of your screen. The top bar will display the name of the current presenter and a View Options menu.  If you do not want the presenters screen to cover your entire computer screen, click the "Exit Full Screen" item in the list.  The bottom bar has various options. You can mute/unmute your mic, select to use your webcam, see participants,  etc..  You can experiment with these as you feel comfortable.  Setup a personal meeting with Kirk if you'd like to experiment outside of an actual scheduled meeting.
